It is critical for early-stage companies to acquire knowledge of why customers will buy your offering. This is primary learning for all ventures. Moving beyond assumptions and discovering the answers comes only from first-hand interaction with customers.

Founders “own” the responsibility for acquiring this knowledge. Only the founder and in fact, especially the founder must do this work for the company. By working directly with early adopter customers, founders gain the insights needed to grow revenue over time. Many founders would prefer to hire salespeople to acquire these first customers. Experience has proven that this does not work well for startups. In this workshop, you’ll learn:

• The role of the early-stage founder in company selling

• What the goals for early-stage selling should be

• What you need to learn about your customers

• Why founders must work to acquire early adopter customers

• The right time to begin hiring salespeople

Whether you are a founder comfortable selling or not, this workshop is an essential one for knowing what sales work must to be done to grow your business and how to go about doing it.

This workshop will be led by Marty Levy, lead Venture Mentor for the Venture Devils+ program. You can learn more about Marty Levy via his profile on StartupTree.
