Hack-a-thon with Arizona Opera

Date: November 15, 2019 - 1:00pm to 12:00am
Location: Changemaker Central | Memorial Union, East Orange Street, Tempe, AZ, USA

Arizona Opera has partnered with Herberger and W. P. Carey to host a hack-a-thon to reimagine a sustainable business model for the arts. The importance of this event is to connect business, art, and engineering students to solve the problem that is opera. Through the use of technology or other practices, students will work together to find ways to make the opera and the performing arts more sustainable, inclusive, diverse, and engaging for younger generations like themselves. Presentators will host workshops and lectures to give students more information about diversification and help students with new technologies to have a prototype for their product.

Pathways:
“Business Side:” redesign the business model to make it more sustainable and to increase profits
“Technology Side:” make a prototype to make opera and the performing arts more engaging in order to increase event turnouts, especially from younger generations
