ASU student David Metoyer explains aspects of the application process for the ASU Innovation Challenge, a student funding competition that provides an opportunity for students to create a positive social impact in local or global communities.
 

Funding Competitions
ASU undergraduate and graduate students participate in hands-on learning and receive not only mentorship, but resources to develop their vision and realize their venture. Each year, over $300,000 is awarded to students to launch entrepreneurial ideas through the following seed-funding competitions:

Opportunity Summary Funding Deadline
Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative Supports students of all majors in transforming their ideas into for-profit of nonprofit ventures; Up to $20,000 per student team March
ASU Innovation Challenge Supports students who have an idea for creating and implementing positive social change through a project, prototype, venture or community partnership. Up to $10,000 per student team November
performing arts venture experience (p.a.v.e.) Supports student pursuits of entrepreneurship projects, prototypes and ventures that pertain to the arts. $1,000-$5,000 Fall and Spring deadlines
10,000 Solutions Supports students, faculty, staff and community members who have an idea on how to impact local or global communities. Up to $10,000 Spring

All competitions are open to students pursuing any major or degree program at Arizona State University. Students may be undergraduate or graduate level. For more information regarding eligibility, rules and deadlines, be sure to check out each competition’s website.

Scholarships
Student entrepreneurs can also apply for scholarship funds to offset the cost of their education while they pursue the creation of a venture.

Shirley G. Schmitz Foundation, Inc. Provides scholarships for education and training leading to starting and operating a business. $1,000 June
