Frequently Asked Questions
Entrepreneurship is location neutral. The principles of leveraging
knowledge for new and creative enterprises can be used anywhere and ASU
provides linkages to support a world-wide entrepreneurial spirit.
Entrepreneurship at ASU encourages all our program participants to
think about what they do in a global context. Development of
relationships with leading universities in China, Ireland and Mexico
and founding of Skysong as an exciting center for entrepreneurial
activity will increasingly expand opportunities for ASU students and
partners to engage their entrepreneurial ventures – anywhere their idea
takes them.

Sustainable entrepreneurship is the use of entrepreneurship principles to create value and solve problems related to sustainability. The ASU School of Sustainability is the first of its kind, and is developing a new generation prepared to tackle these issues.
Entrepreneurs are increasingly drawn to green or cleantech ventures - not only out of a sense that solving environmental issues is the right thing to do, but it can be very profitable as well. An increasing number of applicants for Edson, Entrepreneur Advantage Project and Pathways Entrepreneurship Grants are bringing ideas to solve our pressing environmental problems.
It's not just about business and money. In other fields, entrepreneurship does not involve creating individual profit, however the principles are the same: developing an innovative idea, a new way of doing things or seeing things, getting support for the idea, being able to implement the idea, bringing things to fruition.
Many of ASU programs including the Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative, Entrepreneurial Advantage Project and Pathways to Entrepreneurship Grants have been used to fund projects where the value created was of a social nature. If you have an interest in social issues, be sure to consider any of those programs as funding opportunities.
