As an educator, I am fairly new the fields of entrepreneurship so I am learning the role of an entrepreneur as go.  The more I learn about this exciting field of practice and study, the more I notice ongoing conversations in the field.  An ongoing debate that continues to permeate the field is the discussion of the differences between social and business entrepreneurship.  Are all entrepreneurial endeavors truly social at the core?

Educators, entrepreneurs and investors agreed that when it comes to the future of education in America, thinking big is a necessity, they said as they came together for the Education Innovation Summit at ASU SkySong in early April.

Sometimes, coincidences mount in ways that are truly mysterious.  On March 5, I completed work on a co-authored book chapter, The Enterprising Artist and the Arts Entrepreneur: Emergent pedagogies for new disciplinary habits of mind for a forthcoming volume on signature pedagogies.

About 40 faculty, staff, administrators and community leaders came together at SkySong, ASU’s innovation center, for a half-day networkshop focused on bolstering and growing social entrepreneurship in Arizona.

ASU co-sponsored the gathering with Social Venture Partners Arizona, a philanthropic organization dedicated to bringing together professionals and nonprofit organizations to help build connections. Among the attendees were representatives from a diverse blend of ASU schools, colleges and programs, as well as local nonprofit and social venture groups.
