Birthday Soup and Nalini left :(

Mystery soup with hidden crab

Oh! I forgot to tell you in the last update what happened at dinner. Because it was my birthday, we went out for dinner (actually, we would have gone out no matter what..haha) and the people at the front desk recommended this place called Buka. It was definitely a more up-scale restaurant than we were used to, but still reasonable.

Visiting Fawomanye on Africa Unity Day

Africa Unity Day

Sorry for the superbly long delay! No, nothing bad happened to us, we just didn’t have internet for three straight days and then it has been quite intermittent since it came back; apparently is only works well between 5 am and 8 am – the times I am not awake!

Drive to Accra, Akawali Village

Akawali Village

Yesterday we drove down from Kumasi to Accra in our 25-person bus we hired for the trip. As it was last year, it was a very beautiful drive. You go through some very cool rainforest and see some small mountains and vast farmland. It rained again on us about half way to Accra, so that was cool.

TIA – This Is Africa

TIA – This Is Africa

All of the taxis and vans in Ghana have some sort of saying, and last year we saw one that said “KEEP ON.” We are doing just that, as the internet has been out for the past three days or so, but life – it goes on, and we have been busy! My apologies for the typos in previous posts.

Mark, Brad, and Michael finally made it!

Good morning! Last night we were so exhausted and I went to take a nap, but didn’t wake up until this morning! I’m having breakfast right now, and boy, it’s humid! It was probably not the best choice to drink hot coffee and oatmeal, but oh well.

Day two!

Last year, Accra was in the same time zone as London (or so I thought), and now it’s an hour ahead – so, I woke Dan up at what I thought was 6:30 to get ready for breakfast at 7, but instead it was 5:30; oops! We eventually got breakfast and checked out of the hotel to take a taxi to the airport, but first we had the driver take us to an electronic store to buy a cell phone.

GR is back in Ghana!

Hello

Hello blog! WE’RE BACK! Welcome to round two of the blog, and the sixth time GlobalResolve has been to Ghana.  If you are reading this for the first time, please refer to my first blog entry; it explains the basics of this trip (I don’t think the concepts are very different).
